BIKE NUMBER 97 IN EUROPE
MOST LIKELY A PRESS BIKE

REGISTERED 01st FEB 1998

HPI CLEAR

This bike is an absolute gem of a find. One of the very first Yamaha R1’s in to the UK, and confirmed by the Owners Club to be number 97 in Europe. Probably was used as a press bike.

In 2000 the bike went in to a private collection and kept in a heated environment. It was then sold in 2007 and taken to Ireland where the new owner used it for the odd occasional summers day and then cleaned it after each ride and then put it back away in to his collection in a heated environment. He did this until 2009 when it was then kept as permanent display and not used on the road again. The bike has been kept in heated storage ever since then, and when the current owner bought it and brought it back to the UK, he too has just had it on display as part of his impressive static collection.

The bike is totally standard apart from the Goodridge braided brake lines and the tyres having been changed from originals. The bike is fitted with the factory immobiliser and also comes with the genuine pillion seat cowl in addition to the actual pillion seat itself, and also still has the original tool kit. Along with the bike there is the V5, original Owners Manual, and a copy of the R1 launch brochure, together with the bikes old Tax Discs. Unfortunately though the Service Book and Service history has been lost at some point in its life.

The bike is in lovely condition. The only blemishes to it are a couple of stone chips on the front edge of the tank that have been touched up, and the end plate of the exhaust can has a dint in it, but this could easily be replaced if you wished. But it is a totally genuine collectors bike.

The bike is sold as a collectors bike. We will leave it to the new owner to decide if they want to recommission it and get it back on the road, or just keep it for a static collection.
