COMPLETE CUSTOM BUILD

COST OVER £12,000 TO BUILD – SPREADSHEETS TO SHOW COSTS INCLUDED

What a fantastic work of art this bike is……. but one that you can get on and ride still. This bike was built by its owner back in 2015 at a cost of over £12k and is an amazing show piece for your garage or to take to any bike event. But with its electric start and friendly ergonomics, it’s still something that you could wheel out of the garage on a weekend and go for a spin round the countryside on.

Built from a 1979 Honda CB650Z, the engine was fully rebuilt by Steve Lambley near Shrewsbury, returning with all new bearings, cam chain, rings and re-finished cases plus numerous other details. The frame was de-lugged by a time served toolmaker and passed to Steve Gagg of Ilkeston, Derbyshire for fabrication of the hand formed aluminium tank, seat, front mudguard, foot rest hangers, under-seat battery box and stainless-steel reverse cone mega mated to Predator stainless headers.

Honda CB550 F2 front and CB750 F1 rear wheels were re-furbished, fitted with new bearings and re-laced by Steve Gagg using stainless steel spokes and 18” aluminium rims. All frame components were re-stoved by Belmont Metal Finishing and the seat/tank painted by Andy of “The Paint Studio” in Ilkeston. The fork stanchions were hard chromed and legs painted before new seals and progressive springs were fitted.

At the rear new, longer YSS shocks raise the bikes rear to improve turn-in and give that classic racer stance.

New electrical components were linked together in a full rewire by “Towza” of Towzatronics. Long Eaton. This work included cleaning and re-wiring the switch blocks and hiding the majority of the wiring in the tray under the seat unit for a beautifully clean look.

Braking is provided by Brembo at the front. A new master cylinder (KTM EXC 125) and rebuilt P08 (BMW K100) calliper, clamping an ABE cast iron disc. As well as numerous spacers, Johno of AJP Engineering Bilsthorpe, CNC machined the calliper mount. The rear is all Honda CB750 F1.

The carbs were ultrasonically cleaned and all steel parts re-plated and rebuilt by Matt of Harpers Ultrasonics in Nantwich plus she was set up on a Dyno by Sam Emolenko of Sam’s Dyno Centre.

David Silver Spares provided way too many spares to mention but there is a file with the bike with a huge amount of pictures of the entire build if anybody wants to see them. These will all be included with the bike.
The entire build (with all receipts logged in a comprehensive data folder) costs over and above £12,000 plus a huge number of hours which are not costed for R&D.
