Brand new to the UK market, we have here the all new Italjet Ascot Classic designed and crafted in Italy. A cruiser styled electric power assisted bicycle blending retro design and state of the art technology continues the tradition of great Italjet design. The classic lines blended with the latest battery and motor control technology has created a truly exceptional riding experience cushioned with double spring fork set up.

An e-cycle is a normal bicycle that has a motor incorporated while keeping the usual pedals and bicycle transmission. The motor assistance can help the rider go further than they would under their own power, tackle bigger hills, or simply ride with less effort with speeds upto 25km/H or 15mph assisted by the motor, higher speeds can be achieved under pedal power only.

An e-cycle does not require tax, insurance or a licence to use, and can be used wherever a standard bicycle can go, including cycle paths.

The 24 x 3 inch high volume wide section tyres mounted on quality alloy rims help smooth out rough road surfaces and add stability along with excellent traction. An adjustable sprung leather saddle made in London, England by Brooks adds further to the comfort of the rider as it is cushioned with double springs under the seat and on the central tube.

The quartz clock is clearly visible in the centre of the handlebars and allows the user to control the time without having to remove the hands from the handlebars. The handlebar grips are sheathed in leather with the Italjet Logo incorporated.

No compromises have been made on the motor drive system. A very powerful removable 36V Lithium Iron Phosphate battery mounted in the AG Spalding and Bros leather battery bag powers the 250 watt brushless planetary geared motor. This design gives the rider consistent and effective power when needed, and has no resistance when pedalling without assistance.

The handlebar mounted leather covered LCD display provides five levels of engine power, charge indicator, instant watts consumption, total and trip distances, power level and speed.

The gearbox is integrated in the rear hub of the wheel. The advantage is the gear change happens more gently and the unit is very low maintenance which allows gears to be selected when stationary (unlike a derailleur system) which is very handy in town.

A powerful mechanical front disc brake and effective multi condition rear coaster brake provide reliable and consistent braking in all weather conditions. Bright headlight which allows a wide and bright light beam.

What is an E-cycle?

An E-cycle or the correct term “pedelec” (from pedal electric cycle) is a bicycle where the rider’s pedaling is assisted by a small electric motor; thus they are a type of low-powered e-bike. However, unlike some other types of e-bikes, pedelecs are classified as conventional bicycles in many countries by road authorities rather than classified as a type of electric moped. Pedelecs include an electronic controller which stops the motor producing power when the rider is not pedaling or when a certain speed, 15mph or 25 km/h.

What are the advantages over conventional bicycles?

Mobility: People living in hilly areas can cycle using a pedelec rather than be forced to rely on fully motorised transport (i.e. cars or motorbikes). This is particularly of use to the older people who may no longer have the capacity for strenuous exercise that hill climbing demands that they once had.

Speed: Destinations can be reached more quickly, since the average speed is higher for the same amount of effort.

Effort: Alternatively, the same speeds can be reached with less effort. This means that a rider on a pedelec can sweat less if at all, particularly when going uphill, so that bicycle commuting in work clothes is made less problematic, i.e. eliminating the need to change and/or shower upon getting to work.

Higher range: Since the rider will be less fatigued, and average speeds higher, greater distances can be attained.

Are these cycles legal?

Yes, pedelecs are legally classed as bicycles rather than classed as mopeds or motorcycles. The motor output has to be no more than 250 watts and not be assisted past 15mph.
