TTS PERFORMANCE CONVERSION
ROTREX SUPERCHARGER

POWER:   79  TO  147 BHP

MOT DUE: 09/09/19

2 PREVIOUS OWNERS
(last owner for 11 years)

JUST 28k MILES
(9k since supercharger fitted in 2011 so proved reliability)

What an amazing bike!! Big power GS but discreetly done!!

We took this bike to a custom show last week on the back of our big American show truck and lots of people were asking “Whats ‘Not Your Average’ about a GS?” Thats how discreet the conversion is!! Its only when you fire it up and give it some revs and you hear the “flutter” from the supercharger that you know its something a little special. No big silly exhausts making it sound like a race bike, just the supercharger flutter. It has got an aftermarket Remus can fitted but its quite tame sounding really.

Living up to our name, this supercharged BMW GS is definitely not your average bike!

The conversion was carried out by supercharger specialists; TTS Performance based in Silverstone, and is one of only 2 supercharged GS’s ever done. So you aren’t going to pull up at your local bike meet and find another next to you. TTS only use the best components from Rotrex, and are specialists in the field of superchargers for cars and bikes. If you check out their website then you will even see this bike featured on there from when the conversion was done.

The bike was run on the dyno before and after the supercharger installation and it gave a print out which comes with the bike, showing a power increase for 79.47 bhp as the base line, up to 147.28 bhp with the supercharger. Unlike turbo bikes, the supercharger provides you with all the extra power through the full rev range. Here is what TTS Performance say about it:

“The TTS Rotrex supercharger conversion offers outstanding performance with no compromise in drivability. You can poodle around in high gear at the lowest revs and still pull away cleanly right through to the redline. The engine has instant throttle response and absolutely no lag in any gear from any revs, it has to be ridden to be believed.

The power output is up from 80 to 140 bhp and with an increase in power is right to the redline not tailing off from mid revs like the standard bike. Overtaking is now a joy not the chore it is with standard bike. The conversion employs a front mounted intercooler to cool the charge and keep the increase in power constant.

All the supercharger mounting plates are CNC manufactured in the TTS workshops and hard anodised. All pipework and fabricated parts are powder coated for durability. The kit comes complete with oversize fuel injectors and Dynojet Powercommander complete with Map and full fitting instructions.”

The supercharger kit costs a staggering £4,980 (£4,150+VAT) today and that doesn’t include the fitting as you could in theory fit one of these yourself. This one however was fitted by TTS Performance (hence the photos they have on the website of it).

To help handle the extra power, the previous owner has had a ceramic clutch fitted.

Since the previous owner had the supercharger fitted in 2011, he has used the bike on a couple of European tours, covering around 9k miles on it, and without a single issue. So it has proven reliability. It has also always been very well cared for and has just had oil and filter changes, including changing the supercharger oil.

As part of the supercharger setup the bike is also running a Power Commander and this is set up to run on Premium / Ultimate / High Octane unleaded, and must be run on this. The bike comes with a couple of cans of Octane booster as well, just in case you can only get standard unleaded. Just put a full can of this in with a full tank of standard unleaded, and you are good to go. But nowadays pretty much every petrol station has a high octane version. But with the 30 litre GS Adventure tank, you’ve at least got a good range on the bike and dont need to fill up every 2 minutes. Previous owner tells us that the bike will do about 200 miles on a tank if riding steady, or 150 miles if hooning everywhere.

As mentioned above, the bike has been used for a few European tours so is all set up for going touring. Although not shown in the photos, the bike does come with topbox and panniers so loads of storage as you normally get on a GS. It also has a 12v socket which can be used either to charge accessories, or to charge the bikes battery up. There is a phone mount on the handlebars, hand guards, adjustable screen, heated grips and ABS as standard, and also a brand new remote adjustable rear shock. Also the tank has been upgraded with the larger 30 litre adventure tank.

The front wheel has been rebuilt using the original R1150GS hub, but with a GS HP2 17″ wheel rim (GS HP2 complete front wheel couldnt be used as it was only designed for a single front brake disc). The 17″ wheel then gives more options for stickier tyres for the front, and better handling. The rear wheel has been swapped out for an R1150RT alloy wheel due to the increased power going through the back wheel, as these wheels will cope better than a spoked one.

The bike still retains all of the features and practicality of a standard R1150GS, but just has a bucket load more power, and the power is totally useable. Yes if you ride it hard it will want to lift the front in just about every gear. But if you ride sensible it will just perform calm and with good manners, but will have the power there on tap to just wind it on if you need. Definitely going to surprise a few other bikers on the road when you go past them fully loaded up, or you are keeping up with the sports bike lads.

The bike is simply awesome. Sounds amazing with the supercharger flutter. Has amazing power for a bike you can actually ride on the road. And its definitely Not Your Average Bike.

PAPERWORK

The bike comes with a massive folder of documentation and invoices etc including invoice from BMW for servicing, and from TTS Performance for the Supercharger Conversion. So you can see that along with the MOT history showing clean MOT passes every year apart from 1 advisory for tyre tread getting close to the legal limit, it has been meticulously maintained. Pretty much every MOT certificate from new is with the paperwork for the bike. It also comes with the original service book, riders handbook, sales brochure, accessories brochure etc.

Most recent works invoice:

08/06/18 – New clutch master cylinder and hoses – £498.64

2018 – Rocker end float
2018 – Brake and clutch fluid replaced
